Femke Gyselinck

Femke Gyselinck, born in Gent, Belgium, studied dance at the Academie voor Muziek, Woord en Dans in Gent, during which she combined an academic focus on Latin-Modern Language Studies with the dance curriculum. From 2000-2001 she studied at Hoger Instituut voor Dans (HID). In 2002 she began studying at P.A.R.T.S. (Performing Arts Research and Traing Studios, artistic dir. Anne-Teresa De Keersmaeker), completing both the Training and Research Cycles and graduating in June 2006.

Since graduation she has performed her solo Femke going solo II throughout Belgium. In September 2006 she took part in Deborah Hay's Solo Performance Commissioning Project, and has since performed the solo News in Brussels, Gent, and Brugge. She is collaborating with Sandy Williams, Andros Zinsbrowne and Loan Ha on The Kansas City Shuffle, an audience participation performance geared towards festival environments that has appeared in 2007 at The Game Is Up! at Vooruit (Gent), the Charleroi Dance Biennial at La Raffinerie (Brussels), the TASTE Festival at STUK (Leuven), in Buda (Kortrijk) and Tanz Im August (Berlin). She performed in William Forsythe's Human Writes in Brussels Kunsten Festival des Arts (KFDA).

Next to performing and collaborating on At Large she is teaching dance to young dancers and working towards her teacher's certification degree at Hoger Instituut voor Dans en Danspedagogie.
